NANAKMATTA ancient name of Nanakmatta was Gorakhmatta. Which became Nanakmatta after the arrival of Guru Nanak Dev Ji. About 495 years ago, in 1524 AD, the first Guru of Sikhs, Nanak Dev Ji, had come from Kartarpur to a place named Nanakmatta in Udham Singh Nagar. In the holy book Gurvani, this journey has been mentioned in Nanak Dev ji's third sadness i.e. rap of the third journey. It is said that Nawab Ali Khan, the prince of Awadh, impressed by Guru Gobind Singh ji gifted the land of Nanakmatta area to him.
