NAINA DEVI when Lord Shiva was taking Goddess Sati to Mount Kailash after her death, one of his eyes fell in Nainital, while the other eye fell in Bilaspur, Himachal. This is the reason why this temple of Goddess is included in Shaktipeeth. It is described in Puranas that wherever the body part of the Goddess fell, Shaktipeeth was established there. For this reason Naina Devi Temple of Nainital is included in 64 Shaktipeeths. Inside this temple, two eyes of Naina Devi Maa are made. This is the reason that problems related to the eyes are cured here. At the same time, every wish sought here is also fulfilled. There are also idols of Lord Ganesha and Maa Kali along with Naina Devi inside the temple. A grand fair is organized in the temple on the day of Nanda Ashtami, which lasts for 8 days and is visited by people from far and wide.
