CHAMOLI - CHAMOLI CITY
The "Garhwal" area of Chamoli is known as the country of forts. Formerly known as Kedar-Khand, the Garhwal of today. Kedar-Khand was said to as God's residence in the Puranas. The Hindu scriptures Vedas, Puranas, Ramayana, and Mahabharata were authored in Kedar-khand, which is evidence of this. Mana, the final settlement about four kilometres from Badrinath, is home to the Vyasa cave, where it is thought that Lord Ganesha penned the first Vedic text.
